You can start fencing at any age and soon reap the benefits: strengthening thighs, buttocks and stomach; reduced weight and increased agility. A certain amount of dedication will be required but it's worth it! We offer a variety of beginner level classes which will give you a good start:

1 Weekly class, 6 pm - 7 pm
2 Weekly class, 7 pm - 8 pm
3 Weekly class, 7 pm - 8 pm at Old Finsbury Town Hall
4 Saturday workshops Porthos, 11 am - 2 pm
5 Individual tuition course
The beginners' classes cover the main aspects of fencing and are ideal for people with no previous knowledge of the sport. The participants are introduced to fencing rules, traditions, techniques and tactics. While learning the types of attack and defence fencers exercise in pairs or with the coach. Acquired skills are practiced further during the free fencing bouts.

All elements are taught slowly and repeated often to ensure that students grasp the move - as well as understanding when it should be executed! By the end of the course the participants should have acquired general knowledge of the sport and feel competent to bout with the more experienced fencers.

Our fencing courses are suitable for anyone aged between 16 and 60, male or female, right or left handed! (There are also separate courses for children). The courses are held in central London.

All necessary fencing kit is provided, you just need to bring a t-shirt, not-too-baggy track suit bottoms and trainers. (Did others like these courses?)
